Rip currents are naturally occurring narrow flows of water that move from the shoreline into deep water, caused by strong underwater currents formed by wave action. These currents can be dangerous because of their ability to pull swimmers off path and out into the open ocean. Vacationers and tourists must educate themselves on the dangers of these rip currents, and what to do if they find themselves caught in one.

Bring A Noodle comes to Denham Springs for an educational program on the dangers of rip currents, and what to do if you get caught in one. Community Management, along with several other local businesses and organizations, have come together to help this fantastic organization in our community. is a national program that was founded to spread awareness about the dangers of rip currents at the beach and other large bodies of water, to educate those visiting the area to respect their surroundings and to be aware of potential dangers in the water.

The most important thing to remember if caught in a rip current is to swim parallel to the shoreline. Rip currents flow in a line from the shoreline to deep water, and by swimming parallel you can escape the current. Most deaths occur by swimmers who panic and try to fight the current, eventually becoming exhausted and drowning as a result. We are proud to sponsor Bring A Noodle, educating our families and friends on awareness and beach safety in Denham Springs and the surrounding area.

If you’d like more information about the Bring A Noodle program, you can contact the foundation via email at contact@bringanoodle.org, or follow them on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates and safety tips. Volunteers, sponsors, and donations are always needed, so visit their website to learn how you can help. We can all do our part to educate beachgoers to help bring an end to these preventable tragedies. #bringanoodle and stay safe, everyone!
